Location

Tulane University‘€™s Teacher Certification Program is working with the Stone Center to develop a special opportunity for local educators to internationalize the classroom. Funded by the Longview Foundation, this two day conference will share the latest methods, resources, and curricula available for K-12 teachers to teach global competence. Specialized educators and consultants will work with participants on how to incorporate international issues across the curriculum.

A special screening of Justicia Now! (Directed by Robbie Proctor and Martin O‘€™Brien) will highlight the work of the Stone Center‘€™s Latin American Resource Center. The Latin American Resource Center is pleased to screen the film which won “best of the fest” award during the Stone Center’s 2009 Latin American Environmental Media Festival. Two local teachers were selected to create curriculum aligned to national standards to accompany the film. The film screening will be followed by a presentation from both teachers on the lessons they developed and their work internationalizing the classroom. Both film and curricula developed on Justicia Now! can be found under “Resources” on the Stone Center website. The conference will be held in Kenner, LA on April 19 and 20th at the Pontchartrain Center. For more information and to register, please visit the Teacher Certification Program
