‘€œUniversities and the knowledge hubs of the developing world: An in-depth look at the City of Knowledge in the Republic of Panama‘€
  • Lecture by: Dr. Nanette Svenson

Over the past decade, cities of knowledge, education cities, research triangles, and knowledge villages have sprung up around the developing world. Their modalities and logistics differ, but the universal aim is to import industrialized countries‘€™ university education, learning and research capability as a means of leap-frogging with regard to capacity development and competitiveness. Countries in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America have all begun to experiment with this strategy with varying degrees of success.

This talk will focus on the case of the Republic of Panama and its decade-old City of Knowledge, comparing it to similar hubs in other regions and examining what it has achieved to date.

Please RSVP for a light lunch by Noon, Tuesday, September 14th to tgarnett@tulane.edu.
