On Sunday, November 22, LAGO, the Latin American Graduate Organization, at Tulane University sponsored its fourth annual soccer tournament at the university’s Uptown Campus. Six teams participated in the tournament, including teams comprised of both LAGO and TULASO (Tulane Undergraduate Latin American Studies Organization) members. There were also teams from the local Brazilian and Honduran community as well as teams from the A. B. Freeman Business School and Soccer in the Streets. The double elimination tournament took place at the UC quad on campus and began at 10 am with the final match being played around 4 o’clock. The tournament brought together a diverse mix of the New Orleans public-Tulane graduate and undergraduate students as well as members of the Honduran and Brazilian communities present in the city. The final match of the tournament pitted two skilled and experienced teams of Latin Americans against each other. Ultimately, the Honduran team repeated as champions as they defeated the Brazilian squad 3-1 in the championship game. They were awarded the grand prize and a certificate by LAGO.

This event was sponsored by the Stone Center for Latin American Studies with the generous support of Tulane’s Center for Public Service.
