Ambassador Shannon visits CIPR, Tulane

On November 14, the state Department’s Undersecretary for Pol. Affairs, Ambassador Thomas Shannon, visited CIPR and held a discussion with Tulane faculty about inter-American affairs. Amb. Shannon has a long and distinguished diplomatic career, a good portion of which he spent in Latin America. Most recently, he was Ambassador to Brazil and a special envoy to Venezuela. He was also the Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs as well as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the National Security Council.

The visit was made possible by Tulane’s Diplomat in Residence, Kali Jones. She also secured a speech by Amb. Shannon November 15 which was open to the public.
