Dr. Gill publishes in Current Sociology

November 17th, 2016

CIPR Post-Doctoral Fellow Dr. Tim Gill has published Sociological Theory and U.S. Foreign Policy in the 21st Century

In this article, he discusses how several sociologists have addressed issues of contemporary U.S. foreign policy. Dr. Gill argues that future studies should integrate work on race, gender, and nation into analyses in order to generate a more comprehensive picture of how U.S. foreign policymaking unfolds. He also argues that social scientists must avoid the urge to reduce all foreign policymaking dynamics to economic and military logics, and attempts to make sense of how U.S. elites also remain captive to cultural ideologies that shape how they understand the outside world.
