Brazilian Portugays: Representations of LGBT Language and Culture in Contemporary Brazil a lecture by Steven Butterman, Associate Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, University of Miami and Richard Greenleaf Distinguished Visiting Professor of Latin American Studies, Tulane University.
Dr. Butterman is a leading scholar of LGBT communities, social movements, literatures, and cultural performances in Brazil. This semester he has been teaching an interdisciplinary seminar focusing on sexual minorities in contemporary Brazil in relation to global LGBT movements. His lecture will be followed by an informal symposium in which students of his class will present their own research related to the seminar.
