"Pelo Malo" Film Screening - Patois Film Festival

As part of the 2015 Patois Film Festival The New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival, Pelo Malo will be screened on March 19th at the Zeitgeist.

Pelo Malo, a Venezuelan film, examines a nine-year-old boy‘€™s preening obsession with straightening his hair which elicits a tidal wave of homophobic panic in his hard-working mother. Directed by Mariana Rondón. View the film trailer.

The film garnered much attention due to its treatment of race relations in Latin America, as discussed in this NPR story.
