Local students learn about Carnival in Haiti

February 28th, 2014

On February 19th, Wedsly Guerrier, Visiting Assistant Professor in French & Italian, presented on Carnival in Haiti at the Newman School as part of the Visitor Speaker Bureau.

Wedsly regaled 40 6th grade Spanish students with tales of Carnival in Haiti. His presentation enabled the students to make comparisons with New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations and learn about how Mardi Gras and Carnival are celebrated in other locations. Wedsly is from Haiti and teaches Haitian Creole and French.

For more information on how to invite a visitor speaker to your class please visit the Visitor Speaker Bureau website.
