Performing Haiti in French

December 18th, 2013

This fall, 11 Kindergarten through third graders worked on their French language skills in a unique after-school class called Haitian Folktales. This class was developed by Monique Moss, graduate of the Stone Center and faculty member in Tulane’s Department of Dance & Theatre. Monique worked on developing a curriculum to incorporate the interpretation and performance of Haitian folktales into the French Immersion after-school program at a local school. Monique tapped into her expertise as an educator, dancer, and scholar on Haiti and performance cultures. She has the unique experience of incorporating arts across the curriculum and is finalizing this unique K-3rd grade level lesson plan on Haitian folktales in French and English. The finalized lesson will be available on LARC’s curriculum unit page for free access. View the pictures here
