Not In Our Town is an hour-long documentary about a town coming together to take action after anti-immigrant violence devastates the community. In 2008, a series of attacks against Latino residents of Patchogue, New York culminates with the murder of Marcelo Lucero, an Ecuadorian immigrant who had lived in the Long Island village for 13 years. The film is meant to address the anti-immigrant sentiment felt across this nation and how a community can choose to reject such negative feelings in its own backyard.

The screening will be followed by a Q & A Session and refreshments. Admission is free and open to the public.

This event is hosted by Puentes New Orleans, the Political Science Department, Welcoming Louisiana and Tulane Hillel. For more information, please contact Zach Yanowitz at
